How Long Does Construction Take in Pakistan?

Realistic construction timelines for residential, commercial, and industrial projects in Pakistan — and the factors that cause delays.

One of the most common questions clients ask is: how long will my project take? The honest answer is: it depends — but there are reliable benchmarks that Build Axis uses for planning and client communication.

Residential Grey Structure

A standard 5-marla (1,125 sq ft) residential grey structure on a clear site with good soil takes 4–6 months. A 10-marla structure takes 5–7 months. Multi-storey structures add 2–3 months per floor above ground.

Full Finishing

Finishing work — plaster, tiles, paint, joinery, MEP fixtures — adds 3–5 months for a standard residential project. Premium finishing with imported materials and custom work can take 6–9 months.

Commercial Projects

Commercial projects vary enormously by scope. A small retail unit may take 3–4 months. A multi-storey commercial building typically takes 18–36 months from design to handover.

What Causes Delays

The most common causes of construction delays in Pakistan are: late material procurement, contractor cash flow problems, design changes during construction, approval delays, and poor site management. Build Axis addresses all of these through structured planning, procurement control, and weekly reporting.
